Does the image compressor upload my files to a server?
No. All compression uses the browser's HTML5 Canvas API, which draws and re-exports images entirely within your browser's memory. Your images never leave your device — nothing is transmitted or stored.
What quality setting should I use for web images?
For JPEG and WebP, 75–85% quality produces excellent results — typically 50–70% smaller files with no visible quality loss. For images with sharp text or logos, use 85–90%. The default 80% is a safe starting point for most photos.
Why is my PNG file larger after compression?
PNG is a lossless format — re-exporting a PNG via canvas cannot reduce its size significantly. For smaller files with transparency preserved, select WebP as the output format. WebP supports transparency like PNG but achieves much smaller file sizes.
